CCAA is working with Toyota Amphitheater concession stands and we are trying to build our work force. There is one more date for Orientation/TEAM training, Thursday, July 19, starting at 6:00 pm at the Amphitheater in Wheatland.  In order to work at any of Toyota's events you must have the TEAM training. It is a requirement by Legends and they will not allow you to work an event with out it. This training will take between 3 to 4 hours.

Please let our parent volunteer, Yuvonne, know if you would like to attend by emailing your full name to yuvonneramirez@gmail.com

The 2018 CCAA Blood Drive was a BIG success thanks to our amazing CCAA students, staff, and our student organizers. Our goal was to collect 30 lifesaving pints of blood. We ended up registering 49 donors and we collected 32 lifesaving pints of blood. That’s the most we have ever registered and ties the most we have ever collected at CCAA in a single blood drive. Out of the 49 donors, 30 people donated for the first time. Because of CCAA’s hard work,  a lot of patients will have their lives saved.

We will be hosting a WASC visiting committee Monday and Tuesday at the High School Campus. The purpose of their visit is to give feedback on our progress on our goals since our last visit in 2015. The team will be visiting classes, talking to teachers, students and parents and asking how we are doing.

Their visit is part of our ongoing self study process of Accreditation. This is integral to our school’s perpetual cycle of assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring, and reassessment based upon student achievement. It fosters excellence in elementary, secondary, adult, and postsecondary education by encouraging school improvement through a process of continuing evaluation and to recognize, by accreditation, schools that meet an acceptable level of quality in accordance with established criteria. In addition to its official title, WASC also means We Are Student-Centered.

We would like to celebrate many of our families for ALREADY documenting that 30 or more parent hours have been completed! When families apply to CCAA, they agree to the parent involvement commitment as outlined in our governing charter and we want to celebrate those families to fulfill or exceed this commitment! Thank you for honoring that commitment and being role models of integrity and follow-through for our children!  Please save the date Thursday, March 1, 2018 for a special night of appreciation - more details to follow in February.

We would also like to celebrate our students who have already documented 15 or more community service hours.  Great work representing CCAA and helping out local organizations!

In order for us to keep track of our volunteerism for grants/WASC/celebrations, we ask all families and students to document their hours by submitting them electronically using the link on the front of our school website. You can also submit a copy of planner pages CCAA 5 or 9 to the Walerga school office.

Common Vision will be coming to help us with our orchards on BOTH campuses, Saturday September 23 from 10AM to 5PM. Please bring your family and friends to help out during any of those hours! This would count as parent involvement hours for parents who work AND student community service hours for students who help!

Common Vision is the company that helped us start the orchards several years ago and we need more help to keep the orchards going or the district may remove them. Last year they replaced many of our trees, put down weed block, and updated the drip systems. Let's show them that we care about our orchards and appreciate having their expertise by providing several hands to make the work lighter for all!

Parent participation is very important to the success of our school. One way to get involved is to serve on our School Site or Charter Executive Council. Both committees meet once a month in the evening at 4:45 pm on the second Tuesday of each month.

The purpose of these committees is to monitor the needs and celebrate the successes of many aspects of our school functions. These committees are made up of staff, students and parents.

We have openings for parent members on both committees. If you are interested you can go to our school Website. There is a link to committee information. Nomination forms are also available in our school offices.  Nomination forms are due by 3:30pm on Friday, August 18.

Please remember the orchards are the responsibility of our parents. If we do not keep it looking nice, the district will remove it. Parent hours and student hours for anyone who helps get it weeded and presentable for the start of school!

Reminder that we would love to see ALL INCOMING 7th and 9th graders this Thursday, August 3rd from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm for our Orientation Rally in our Walerga Campus cafeteria!

The purpose of this orientation is to make the transition into these grade levels a positive one. Eighth graders and HS students will be serving as leaders and mentors. Large and small group activities are designed to address students' needs and concerns in an enjoyable manner.

Wear comfortable clothes and don't bring all your stuff - travel light!

This is a student only function so we encourage parents to let your child attend on his or her own. Please feel free, however, to attend an optional CCAA PTO Parent Meeting with our President Tera Larson Thursday morning in the teacher's lounge starting at 8:00 am and lasting for one hour.

Note to Link and WEB leaders: Your training session begins tomorrow morning 8/1 at 8:30 am until 1:30 pm and continues on Wed 8/2 during the same times. There will be a lot of information during these sessions and it is really important that you attend all of it.
